Recommendations for successful account verification

Account verification is the process of verifying your identity and your address. To verify your identity and address, you need to upload certain documents. To learn about the requirements for such documents, see Verification rules. In this article we have our recommendations for the freelancers from Colombia.

Please note:

  • You need to take a photo of the original printed versions of your documents, and then upload them in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format.

  • All four corners of the document must be visible in the photo.

  • Photo should not be cropped or edited.

  • Electronic documents need to be uploaded in their original format (PDF), screenshots are not accepted.

Verifying your identity

For the first verification step you can upload one of the documents:

  • Passport of Colombia;

  • ID Card (Cédula de ciudadanía);

  • Driver's license;

  • Residence permit.

Verifying your residential address

To confirm your address, the document must contain your full name, address, and be issued within the last 6 months or have a valid expiry date. We successfully accept following documents:

Reporte nueva colicitud "Sisben"

  • Please note that the document must contain your full name, address, and be issued within the last 6 months. If it's issued earlier, you can create a new document;

  • Upload the document in PDF format or as a photo of the paper document.

  • Other similar documents, that are accepted, are Certificado de nomenclatura "Alcadia de Pasto" and "Alcadia Mayor de Cartagena de Indias" certificate.

Tax Registry Form (Formulario del Registro Ünico Tributario)

  • Please note that the document must contain your full name, address, and be issued within the last 6 months. If it's issued earlier, you can create a new document;

  • Upload the document in PDF format or as a photo of the paper document.

Documents issued by a Colombian bank

  • Examples of documents: account statement, account opening agreement, bank certificate, bank reference, etc;

  • If a regular bank statement does not mention your name or residential address, request one from your bank that specifically includes your last name, first name, and residential address;

  • Documents from the following banks have worked well previously: Bancolombia, Banco de Bogota, Banco Union, BBVA, Davivienda, Nequi. But you can upload a document from any other bank as long as it contains all the needed information;

  • Please note, that the document must be uploaded as a photo of a paper document or original document in PDF format. Screenshot of the document won't be accepted.

Utility bill or service contract

  • Examples of documents: utility bill, cable Internet bill, television bill, landline or mobile phone bill, contract for the provision of any of the listed services;

  • The document must contain your name, address, the logo of the organisation;

  • The document itself must be issued within the last 6 months.

  • Documents from these organisations were successfully accepted: Afinia, Aguas de Cartagena, Air-e, Alcanos, Celsia, Claro, Conexion Digital, Emcali, EPM, ETB, Gases del Caribe, GdO, HV Multiplay, Movistar, Skynetwork, Tectotel, tigo, Velonet, WOM, Xfinity.

Residential lease agreement

  • The agreement must be written in printed Spanish or English language;

  • You need to upload photos of the pages with your full name, address, validity period and signs of both sides. If it's an electronic agreement, upload it as a PDF file and contact Support via chat so we check it manually;

  • If the agreement is valid, but was signed more than 6 months ago, contact Support via chat so we check it manually.
