How to add or swap out team members and what's the role of the offer creator

Updated yesterday

Mellow streamlines work with international companies and helps contractors receive payments from clients around the globe.

In Mellow, you work with clients by creating offers. An offer is basically an invoice, a list of services, and an invite for the client all wrapped into one.

Contractors can work on the offer's tasks solo – or as a team. The latter option is great for groups of freelancers, or managers that oversee multiple projects. Mellow enables teams to receive payment and have it be automatically distributed among all the members.

Team manager in Mellow

The project manager is the freelancer who creates the offer and sends it to the client. They are the team's point of contact with the client. The manager can check the team members' progress and submit the work results to the client.

Please note that the creator of the offer should list themselves on the team and specify a price for their work. When the client accepts and pays for the work, Mellow will send the remuneration directly to the performers specified in the offer. Whoever is not on the list of the contractors will not receive payment.

Here's an example of an offer containing three tasks, each with its own performer:

As a manager, you can play a purely supervisory role, or you can perform tasks along with the rest of the team.

Creating a team

If this is your first time putting together a team for an offer, you need to send out email invites through the app. To join your project, contractors need to accept the invite and sign up for Mellow.

All invitees are saved in the service. After you first invite people, you don't need to repeat the process for them – just select the contractors from the list. You can also categorize them, like placing all designers in a separate group, for example.

Swapping people out

As long as a task is in progress (as in not in the "Client review" status), the project manager can replace contractors. This may be necessary if they go radio silent or underperform by working too slowly or otherwise poorly.

A new invitee is emailed a new task notification and, if the terms suit them, accepts the task. The person who got removed from the project also receives an email notification.

Remuneration

After the client accepts the offer and pays for the tasks, the money is automatically credited to the Mellow balance of each team member. The contractors receive the amounts that the manager specified when creating the offer.
