Mellow helps freelancers get paid by clients around the world. Send invoices, accept payments from more than 100 countries, get closing documents ready-made for both sides, and handle your taxes the way that works for you. How to register
Download the Mellow app from the App Store or Google Play, or sign up in the web version. Once you’ve registered, you’ll go straight to your account, ready to create an offer or an invoice.
To start working with a client, open the Payments section. For a walkthrough of creating an invoice, read this article. For creating an offer, read this one.
Who it’s for
Mellow is built for freelancers who work with clients around the world – developers, designers, testers, content specialists, product and project managers, analysts, recruiters, psychologists, coaches, and IT team leads.
How Mellow helps freelancers
We take the hassle out of working with companies around the globe, so you can focus on what matters most: earning well and growing in your field.
Accept payments from clients and withdraw your earnings to a sole proprietor’s business account, a bank card, or an e-wallet – in your local currency, dollars, or euros. Here’s how currency conversion works.
Let your clients pay by bank transfer, exactly as they’re used to.
Leave the paperwork to us. We prepare the work completion certificates, invoices, and contracts for you and your clients, so you can just do the work.
Get tax-return support whether you’re a sole proprietor or a private individual, receive your reporting documents fully prepared, and, if you’re self-employed, get help issuing receipts.
Stay protected from bad-faith companies with Secure Deal, available in offers. Mellow holds your client’s money and releases it to you the moment you finish the work.

How it works
It’s simple: do your work and get paid through an offer or an invoice. An offer is an invoice with a payment guarantee – the client deposits the money before the work starts. An invoice is a bill for work already done. You create both in Mellow and send them to the client. We break down the difference in a separate article.
Say you want to sell a client a website design service. Here’s what to do in Mellow:
Create a new offer or invoice and give it a name – “Website Design,” for example.
Add a description and set the price.
Copy the link to the finished offer or invoice and send it to the client by email or messenger.
Working as a team
Projects often bring several specialists together at once – a project manager, a web developer, a designer, a copywriter. For cases like these, Mellow lets you build a team inside an offer and invite other contractors to join.
Our separate guide walks through how it all works, with screenshots and examples.
Questions and answers
How do I register with Mellow?
You can sign up in the app (download it from the App Store or Google Play) or on our website.
Do I have to pay to create offers and invoices?
Creating them is free – Mellow charges a 5% fee only when the client transfers the money. And who pays that fee is up to you: cover it yourself or pass it on to the client.
If the client pays the fee, the 5% is simply added on top – so for you to receive $1,000, they’ll transfer $1,050. If you cover the fee instead, Mellow works out the amount and withholds it from your payment.
Which of my clients can pay me through Mellow?
Only businesses can pay you. That means companies and other registered legal entities, including sole proprietors in some countries. Private individuals and self-employed persons can’t pay you through Mellow.
Does my client have to register with Mellow?
That depends on how you bill them. Offers require the client to register. Invoices don’t – they just complete a quick company check right on the preview page of your invoice.
What currency can I create an offer or invoice in?
You can use dollars or euros – whichever suits your client better. And you and your teammates can each withdraw your share to your own payment method, in any available currency, at Mellow’s conversion rate. Learn more about payouts and currencies.
Who do my client and I sign contracts with?
You sign a public offer agreement with one of Mellow’s offices – in the United States, the European Union, or Hong Kong. Your client signs with one of them too, depending on their jurisdiction.
What documents will my client and I receive?
Both of you receive a full set of closing documents – work completion certificates and invoices.
Do I need my own clients to use the service?
Yes. You can only send an offer or invoice to an existing client, with all the details already agreed between you.
Why do I need Mellow if I already have PayPal, Wise, or Revolut?
With Mellow, you confirm your income legally, receive all your closing documents automatically, and can work under Secure Deal through offers.
