Who is it for?

Mellow facilitates international cooperation between freelancers and their clients. It helps developers, designers, testers, content makers, product and project managers, analysts, recruiters, therapists, coaches, and many others. It is also a great service for IT team leaders.

How Mellow helps freelancers

Our product streamlines interaction with companies around the globe and enables freelancers to focus on what really matters: making money and honing their skills.

  • Mellow allows freelancers to withdraw their remuneration to bank accounts, cards, or e-wallets. The funds can be converted into their national currency, dollars, or euros. Learn more about conversion.

  • Clients can pay for your services using a bank card or via a bank transfer.

  • We take care of the paperwork (certificates, invoices, agreements). You just focus on the job, and we handle all the docs for both you and the client.

  • We assist sole proprietors and individuals with their tax returns, and automatically generate accounting documents and receipts for the self-employed.

  • Our Secure Deal feature protects freelancers against fraud: Mellow holds the client's funds and pays them out after the task is completed.

  • We provide digital nomad visa advice and help freelancers with the application process.

How it works

It's simple: you provide services and accept payment via offers. An offer is an invoice, services list, and invite for the client all wrapped into one link. First, create an offer in Mellow, and then send it to your client.

Let's say you want to design a website. This is what you do in Mellow:

  1. Create a new offer and name it something like "Website design".

  2. Add a description and price.

  3. Copy the offer link and send it to the client in an email or messenger.

Once the client accepts the offer, you can start working. See our offers guide for detailed instructions and screenshots.

Teams

Tasks often require different specialists, such as project managers, web developers, designers, or copywriters. To account for that, Mellow supports working in teams.

You can invite other contractors to join the project. See our guide on working as a team for more details, screenshots, and different scenarios.

FAQ

How do I sign up for Mellow?

You can sign up in the app, which you can get from the App Store or Google Play.

Is there a charge for creating an offer?

Yes, 3% of the offer amount. When creating an offer, you can choose who pays the commission – you or the client. If you pass the commission on to the client, the total amount they pay for the offer will increase by 3% (for example, instead of $1,000 they will pay $1,030). Conversely, if it’s you who pays the commission, then we will withhold $29.13 from the $1,000 offer price.

The app automatically calculates the offer total.

How do I invoice my client?

Create an offer, add tasks, and send it to the client. To learn more, see the offers guide.

How long does the link to an offer last?

Until the client accepts the offer.

Who can act as the client?

Only legal entities or other business entities that exist in a particular jurisdiction (for example, individual entrepreneurs). Individuals cannot act as clients.

What currency can I choose when creating an offer?

You can create offers in USD or EUR – choose the one that suits your client. Freelancers can withdraw remuneration to their chosen payment option in any available currency (Mellow conversion rate applies). Learn more about payments and available currencies.

What if the client doesn't accept the offer?

You can make adjustments to the offer to suit the client's preferences: change the prices or deadlines, alter the scope of work, or modify the list of contractors.

What kind of agreement do the client and I have, and with whom?

You enter into an offer agreement with one of the Mellow representative offices located in the United States, the European Union, and Hong Kong. The client can also choose which legal entity to enter into an agreement with.

What documents do the client and I get?

Both parties receive a set of closing documents: certificates (also called "acts") and invoices.

Do I need to have existing clients to work through Mellow?
